About us
Established in 2014 and officially inaugurated in 2017, the Knowledge and Uncertainty Research Laboratory (ΓΑΒ LAB) at the University of the Peloponnese focuses on exploring the influence of knowledge and its absence within information technology theory and practice. Employing fuzzy mathematics and semantic web technologies as primary theoretical frameworks, the lab’s research spans various domains, including information visualization, artificial intelligence, information retrieval, user adaptation, cultural informatics, social networks, and smart cities. Actively engaged in educational activities across the Peloponnese region, ΓΑΒ LAB collaborates with local schools, municipalities, and governmental bodies, including the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education. These partnerships aim to bridge the gap between scientific research and societal needs, fostering innovation and promoting science among younger generations. The laboratory’s commitment to open science is evident through the availability of its software and applications, which are accessible to the public via its GitHub account.
